The Great Hellmess of 2015
So I have a story to tell.
My daughter is knitting her first sweater. To make the love of this first sweater solidify her desire to knit more of them, we made it a customfit sweater. She’s been cruising along, following her pattern, and asking lots of very intelligent questions.
She got all the way to the neck bind off row when she asks, “Should I be concerned that the bust dart stitch markers aren’t the same distance from the edge? One stitch marker is 15 stitches from the edge. The other is 28 stitches from the edge.”
Um yes. Be concerned.
After much deliberation, photos, and long-distance troubleshooting, she sends me this:
72 rows ago, her stitch marker fell out, and she put it back in, thought nothing of it, and worked 11 bust increases. You can’t leave a bust dart in the wrong place like that. You just can’t.
After six long hours, with much cursing under my breath and soothing of an anxious teenage heart, I did it.
Today, I am a knitting GODDESS. I deserve coffee and a medal. Maybe even a medal made of chocolate.
Marlie’s Anders
I’m taking this as my strung along project.

Realizing I’d both used the wrong needle and that my yarn was running out, I ended up knitting 20 rows per sleeve before starting edging.
Hoopes Team Mini Christmas Stockings

My boss, Brian, teases me incessantly about needing to knit the team something. This year his target is Christmas stockings. I think this will do.
Notes
foot is 3” long before toe.
Toe Row 8: k1, ssk, k2, k2tog, k2, ssk, k2, k2tog, k1
Bind off by threading tail through stitches and pulling tight. Tie off.
Marlie’s Bon Bon Mittens
We were wandering around outside at sub-freezing temperatures when I realized my toddler’s hands were both bare and cold. That simply won’t do! I’m casting on mittens RIGHT NOW!
Ribbing
Work 8 rows of ribbing instead of 6.
Gusset
To make gusset stitch count work, I knitted rows 0, 1, 2, 1, then on the next round, I put thumb stitches on holder and cast on 3.
Thumb
slip held stitches onto a needle, then pick up 5 stitches from hand. Purl the last of these 5 stitches together with the first of the thumb stitches. Purl around to the last of the thumb stitches, then purl 2 together through back loop with the first of the hand stitches. Purl 3. Place marker.
